The Japan Olive Oil Prize is one of the international olive oil competitions, bringing together the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in awarding medals to the best olive oils in the world.

One of the most important competitions in Asia, with the aim of promoting excellence in olive oil in the world, JOOP celebrates its 10th anniversary today and sees the participation of 500 labels from 21 countries in the competition.

In terms of olive oil, JOOP only aims for the best, it is synonymous with excellence and fairness, awarded by an internationally recognized jury. Olive oils pre-selected on the basis of a chemical analysis report from a laboratory, are scored on the basis of blind tasting procedures and in full compliance with European Union regulations.

During its first ten years of existence, the JOOP has become an institution, which has grown slowly but with character, tranquility and quality. The people who organize this competition and the JOOP jury, made up of internationally recognized professionals, are dedicated and strive to achieve the best possible result for the producers", says Konstantinos Liris, member and head of the jury.

"Japan is the first consumer of EVOO oil among Asian importing countries and the eighth in the world. The main objective of JOOP is to promote and educate consumers on the beneficial effects of this product. We coordinate promotional activities to give visibility to the award-winning oils in mass distribution, such as in the two chains Hankyu and Isetan, the most important in Japan", commented Davide Fantoni, Secretary General of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan.

JOOP has a jury of 9 certified international judges, supervised by 3 heads of jury: Konstantinos Liris (Greece), Antonio G. Lauro (Italy), Yamada (Japan). The rigorous selection proclaimed the winners in the IGP, DOP, Organic, Monocultivar, Blend and Flavored categories. Depending on the score obtained, the oils were awarded Best in Class, Gold and Silver awards. After the awards ceremony, the 3 winners of the JOOP Design Award were announced.

A big thank you to the chefs and customers who trust us!
